GREGORY SWENSON DR. CLAYTON O. PESILLO DR. JEFFREY G. BELL DR. KIHO MA "Creating smiles is our business." SMOI(ELESS TOBACCO If you've given up smoking cigarettes but are now chewing tobacco, you can still have dental problems that have been found to be tobacco related. According researchers, prolonged or excessive use of smokeless tobacco can produce irritants that have an unhealthy effect on gum and bone tissue. If damaged tissue isn't treated in time, this can lead to loosening of the teeth, and eventually loss of teeth. Another condition that users of smokeless to- bacco should be aware of is hyperkeratosis. This is the formation of a whitish, callous like thickening in the mouth. It usually occurs in the area where the tobacco is placed for chewing, sometimes called the "snuff pouch." Whether you smoke or chew tobacco, and even if you do neither, regular dental checkups are the only way you can protect the health of your teeth and mouth. If there is the beginning of any kind of dental related problem, the earlier the treatment the better chance you have of keeping your teeth and mouth healthy. A public service to promote a better dental health environment. LETYERS TESTAMENTARY on the Es- tate ofLinda E. Call John at 966-0822. 1/26.2 VOLUNTEER COACHES WANTED There is an immediate need for coaches in the Midd-West School District this spring. Coaches are needed for an afterschool youth development program geared towards girls in 3rd through 8th grades, addressing relevant topics such as peer pressure, bullying, body image and seF-esteem. The mission of Girls on the Run of the Greater Susquehanna Valley is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which cre- atively integrates running. The local chapter of GOTR has been expe- riencing phenomenal growth in Snyder County. Because of this growth, there is a great need for volunteer coaches. Coaches don't need to be runners. A coach is someone who demonstrates the Girls on the Run values that include making healthy choices, living with gratitude, embracing individual differences, and standing up for yourself and others. Coaches meet with their team twice a week after school and deliver a curriculum that has years of research behind it. The next coach training where you will learn how to deliver the program will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove. Check out the Web site at www.girlson- therunsusquehannavalley.org for more infor- marion about volunteering. 1/26 Meeting Notice UNION COUNTY HBRARY BOARD MEETING DATES The Union County Library System, along with its member libraries, have rdeased the 2012 Board meeting dates.
