The nomination also says "I think one of their most amazing accom- plishments has been to mentor at least 14 young men to the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts (nine of which were in the Mifflinburg High School graduating class of 2010). This is definitely above the national av- erage for a small community like ours!" The members of the MHRA board of directors thank Dennis and Mary for their commitment and dedication to the Scouts in the area and they.are pleased to recognize them for their ef- forts and for being an "essential piece." Without these "essential pieces" in the community, the puzzle does not come together. MHRA is pleased to announce the January 2011 volunteer honorees as Dennis and'Mary Keiser. The theme around the volunteer recognition program is "You are an es- sential piece!" because it takes all of the pieces working in concert to create the whole. Each honoree receives an "es- sential piece" pin in addition to a cer- tificate of appreciation. The following is quoted from the nomination form: "Dennis and Mary have dedicated the last 12 years to the Mifflinburg Cub/Boy Scouts as out- standing Scout leaders. They truly live and breathe Scouting. Even though their sons have aged out, they continue to lead the Boy Scouts on to great ad- Vol. No. 151 No. 22 January students of month announced by schools Middle School Students of the Month (l. Giilian Allen. The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for January. Students are selected by their teachers on the crite- ria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, In- volved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and in- tegrity, and have Enthusiasm for learn- ing. At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions club memento from the Mill- mont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award. Jacob Eichenlaub is in sixth grade, the son of Troy and Shari Eichenlaub. He has one sister and one brother and lives in Mifflinburg. Art is his favorite subject in school, where he is also a member of the Peer Buddy Club. He enjoys raising animals and having many pets, including a horse that he rides. He plays the guitar and is into photography. In the future, Jacob would like to own his own busi- ness and be a veterinarian. Tricia Lloyd is in seventh grade. Her parents are Gerald and Joanne Lloyd. She has one sister and one brother, and lives in Mifflinburg. She doesn't have a favorite subject in school, she likes all her classes. She is a member of the chorus and a band member, playing the alto saxophone. She is in the Builder's Club and the Envirothan Club, and enjoys playing basketball and softball. Tricia is a member of her church youth group, and enjoys play- ing the piano and singing. In her spare time she likes playing with her animals and spending time with her family and friends.
